Independent Clinical Psychology Services in South London
About Us
We know the power that talking therapies have to improve lives, both personally and for our clients. Making the decision to speak with a therapist - or indeed to try again with therapy - takes courage. We remain sensitive to how challenging starting therapy and sticking with it can be. We also strongly believe in increasing access to gold-standard psychological therapies, through public and private practice. We are a partnership of certified and chartered clinical psychologists based in South London. We work with adults and young adults, individuals and couples.
Our values
As a team at Resonance, we have spent time translating our shared values into what we offer to our clients. We are committed to promoting the wellbeing, autonomy and dignity of all people and communities, and to preventing and relieving distress and adversity. We are guided in our practice by authenticity, clarity and consistency. We have deep personal commitments to compassion as a response to the human condition. We understand that creativity, patience, integrative thought and commitment are necessary for meaningful and lasting personal development.
How we work
We are trained to provide assessment and psychological treatments for people who experience any form of difficulty in mental health. We are also able to help people who are adjusting to life changes and those wishing to improve their communication skills and relationships with others. We each have areas of expertise in which we have particular strengths, and either prior to or following assessment, we could recommend a different therapist with alternative training if needed or preferred.
All therapy starts with a focus on your hopes, goals and aspirations for the future. We will regularly review your experience in therapy and evaluate progress. As therapists, it’s our responsibility to support you towards independence as quickly as you see fit. It typically takes one to three sessions to complete an assessment, allowing recommendations regarding the strategy, timescale and direction of therapy. You will work in partnership with your therapist alongside you at every stage, making decisions collaboratively with access to the best practice evidence-based approaches according to your preference and needs.
We work with expert supervision to maintain continuous professional development. This means that therapy is discussed confidentially with a senior colleague who might help us to improve further. Our disciplines are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council, bringing you assurance of our professional and quality standards. The title of Clinical Psychologist is associated with a doctoral level qualification, and is protected by UK law.
Confidentiality and record keeping
Information that is shared with us is personal and sensitive and will be received non-judgmentally and in the strictest confidence. To read more about our commitments to confidentiality and data protection, please see our Client Agreement and Privacy Notice.
Mental health conditions
We are able to offer the gold-standard evidence-based therapies recommended by the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) for all common mental health difficulties, and to tailor these to individuals’ unique circumstances and preferences. We specialise in helping with a range of experiences including the following: stress, depression, anxiety, mood swings, worrying thoughts, trauma and post traumatic stress, sleep disturbances, struggles with confidence and self-esteem, motivation difficulties, communication difficulties.
Of course, you do not need to experience a mental health difficulty to benefit from meeting with a psychologist. Many people make use of these sessions for positive self-development. This could include working towards a personal goal, changing certain habits, gaining more control over a pattern of thoughts, feelings and behaviours, or exploring identity and finding a rewarding path in life.
